CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) PREPAREDNESS & RISK MITIGATION
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) are responding to an outbreak of respiratory disease caused by a coronavirus. The virus has been detected in numerous locations internationally, including in the United States. Please visit the CDC website (www.cdc.gov) and the WHO website (www.WHO.int) for up-to-date information.
COVID-19 Human Coronaviruses are common throughout the world. The most recent Coronavirus, COVID-19, was first identified in Wuhan, China, and is associated with mild-to-severe respiratory illness with fever and cough. Most people in the United States will have little immediate risk of exposure to COVID-19.
At New Orleans Steamboat Company, the health of our employees and guests is paramount. While there have been no reported cases of the virus in our operations, we are closely monitoring updates regarding COVID-19 cases and following guidelines from CDC, WHO and the local health department to make sure our policies and procedures meet or exceed their guidelines.
New Orleans Steamboat Company has always operated and maintained cleanliness and hygiene procedures on our vessels that are externally audited to ensure quality and compliance with applicable health regulations. This includes frequent hand washing, thorough disinfection of food preparation surfaces before and after service, and regular sanitization of our vessels before and after service. We have increased the frequency and focus of our cleaning procedures and elevated the cleaning and sanitizing frequencies to include spraying with a bleach disinfectant and wiping high touch areas such as handrails, door knobs, tables, chairs, bars, bathrooms and other surfaces throughout the vessel.
At our Lighthouse Ticket Office at the Toulouse Street Wharf, we have also implemented additional cleaning procedures of our countertops (exterior and interior) with a bleach disinfectant wipe down throughout the day in addition to a sanitizing wipe down of the credit card swipes/keyboards on exterior counters throughout the day.
